1995, Mel Gibson made a movie called Braveheart.

The movie is 3 hours and 2 minutes long and it’s directed by Mel Gibson himself who also plays the main character William Wallace. Mel Gibson was born January 3, 1956 and he is an American-Australian actor, director and producer. 1995 he played his famous role “Sir William Wallace” in the movie Braveheart and won two Oscars for best picture and best director. The movie goes in to the genres adventure, romance and historical drama.

William Wallace’s father died when he was just a boy and because of that he grew up with his uncle. When he was an adult he secretly married a girl named Murron and they were in love. But one day she got murdered by the English soldiers and William got heartbroken. After some time William wanted revenge so he started fighting against England. People thought he was a good fighter so they started joining him and after a while he became the leader of the rebellion for Scotland’s freedom against England.

Braveheart takes place in Scotland and England in the 13th century. There are a lot of mountains, rocks and big meadows. There are also a lot of small villages where the poor Scottish people lived. It rains a lot and it’s very cloudy in the villages which makes them seem like a very bad place to live. The people in the small Scottish villages wears dirty and simple clothes and it looks like they haven’t showered in days, but the people in England, in the castles, wears nice clothes with beautiful hairstyles which makes you feel bad for the Scots. The make-up, music and clothes makes the Scottish villages seem very bad and you feel compassion for the Scots.

The main character is William Wallace. He was the one who started the whole revolution and we get to follow him through the movie. He is very brave and he’s not afraid to stand up for himself or his country. As the movie goes on he gets more angry and tougher because he had nothing to lose now when his wife was dead. In the beginning he was just a regular farmen but ended up as the leader of the rebellion. Robert the Bruce was the king of Scotland. In the beginning of Braveheart he listened to his father’s bad advice which was that money and treasure is the most important things in life. Because of that he ended up betraying Scotland. But in the end he stopped listening to his father and became a much better king who helped and fought for his country.

I think that one thing the director wants to tell through the movie is that Scotland was in a very bad place during the 13th century when the king of England ruled there. They had to fight for their freedom and I think one of the movie’s messages is that you should always fight for the people you love. That was exactly what William did and it ended up with Scotland’s freedom.

I would say that they often uses a rather difficult language with old phrases but I do think it fits because Braveheart takes place in the 13th century. They also sometimes speak a whole different language which is Scottish and I think it really fits and makes the movie seem more interesting. The movie is also very detailed and you get a lot of information which means you get a clear picture and you don’t need to draw your own conclusions. Braveheart is told through dialogues between the characters.

I personally didn’t like the movie because I’m not a fan of this genre. I also think that the movie was a little bit to long and because the movie was too detailed you had to stay one hundred percent focused throughout the whole movie. If you didn’t you could miss important information. But one thing I liked was that it always happened something and I learned a lot about Scotland in the 13th century. I would recommend this movie to someone who likes historical movies and is a fan of Scotland’s history. The movie does have some violent scenes so i wouldn’t recommend the movie to children.
